Myth and the ‘art’ of cycling

He is back. Manuel Roca returns to speak about his life in Mato Rujo; in the month of April, under a lucid sky and unburdened by the obligation of writing his dissertation which he consigned Wednesday the 22nd. Time is now springing from the clock that overlooks his days. Manuel Roca guzzles it avidly as he drank the fresh water gushing from the fountain there is at the top of the Selvino climb after he has ascended it all out.
The dissertation Manuel Roca just finished to write is about the relationship between cycling and the concept myth. The title he chose for it refers to a book Manuel Roca read some time ago which talked about a motorcycle journey punctuated by some philosophical discussions; Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Maynard Pirsig. In his work Manuel Roca takes this notable work as a starting point to ‘assemble’ all the ideas he possesses on his adored sport and the conception of myth. The title of it is Myth and the ‘art’ of cycling and as Manuel Roca says in the abstract it is dedicated to all of those who enjoy the pleasant suffering of a cycling ride; people who say no to an over-comfortable life but love experiencing the enchantment of physical effort.
Faithful to what he wrote, Manuel Roca was out on his bicycle in the morning and did a very powerful final. At any cost, he wanted to reach the average of 30 km per hour in his 4 hours ride so really had to push himself over his limits in the last 45 minutes.
